Road safety around school:
Safety of our children and their families is of utmost importance to us. This morning there was a near miss when one of our pupils was walking to school when a car, drove at speed on the pavement, by the yellow lines while parking.
As you know during school drop-off and pick-up times, the roads in the immediate vicinity are especially busy and there is usually a high level of vehicle, and pedestrian activity. This causes congestion and very often leads to frustration from residents and motorists at the apparent chaos caused by parents and children arriving or leaving school. Although few incidents occur on or near the school site, it is important that our school leaders take all reasonable steps to avoid an accident happening. School's senior leadership team will be monitoring this situation and completing spot checks both at drop-off and pick-up times.
Can we ask that you always ensure you park responsibly, as this child could have been going to hospital this morning instead of school. Thank you.
