                                                                                                23rd April, 2015

Dear Parents

Welcome back to the Summer Term.  I hope you all enjoyed the Easter holidays, not to mention the sunny weather.

Your child may wear summer uniform this term.  Dresses are pale blue check with white socks and jumper/cardigan with school logo for girls.  Boys this term may wear shorts.  These must be tailored with grey/black socks.  No jellies/clogs but sensible sandals and shoes please.

Due to the ever changing weather we encourage you to send a coat each day with your child.  Our playground can be very wet and chilly even in Summer!

There are many changes due in the very near future.  The School has been fortunate to secure a £30,000 grant from Sport England to develop the Tudor Square end of our playground.  We are very proud to have been awarded the Grant.  Special thanks to Mrs. Long, our PE Subject Leader, for working so hard on the bid.

The School is also due to have exterior painting, new disabled toilet and staffroom, and new roofing.  This will take place in the Summer holidays so I apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause should the work not be finished by September.

I also wish to inform you of my intention to retire from my post as Headteacher at the end of this academic year, following almost 25 happy years at Chapel Street Infants and Nursery School.

Naturally this has been a hard decision for me to make.  I will miss the sense of community at the School and indeed that of the community in Dalton, together with the friendships I have made.  I will look on them fondly but I know the time has come to go and explore new directions and embrace early retirement!

Many thanks to all members of our “School Family” for their help, humour, belief, hard work and support.

Good luck for the future.

Everyone is special…………Believe in yourself!

Yours sincerely,

Miss Helen R. Watt

Headteacher

P.S.  School is closed on Monday 4th (Bank Holiday) and Thursday 7th May for voting.
