8th September, 2014

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the new term.  The sun is shining and the pupils look lovely in their new school uniforms.  Could I remind parents to send a coat with their child daily as the weather is highly likely to change throughout the day.  Many thanks.

Our Universal Meals programme continues to be a learning curve for Staff and pupils alike.  Many pupils have tried new foods.  Many thanks also to Dowdales kitchen and our own lunchtime Supervisors who are working tirelessly to provide a wonderful eating experience!  May I remind all pupils to bring a drink in a named container to have with their lunch.

May I also remind Parents/Carers to park safely in the vicinity of School.  Traffic Wardens patrol the area and issue parking tickets.  We hope our crossing patrol will be reinstated in October, but in the meantime please ensure an adult crosses Chapel Street with the child/children.

In the event of school closure due to unforeseen circumstances please see announcements on our website and listen for updates on Bay Radio or Radio Cumbria. (www.chapelstreet.cumbria.sch.uk) Our facebook page (Chapel Street Group) also has information (This is read only).

Can I please remind you that Pupils and their families should not use the climbing frames/playground equipment before 8.55am or after 3.00pm.  I also ask that you bring your child into the playground and wait until your child’s class Teacher brings them into School.

This is particularly important also if your child is late.  In these cases you must bring your child to the office door and hand your child over to a member of staff.

Punctuality and leave of absence are regularly monitored by Staff, Governors and the Local Authority.  This applies to both the beginning and the end of the School day.  Persistent non-compliance will result in attendance panel meetings and further action by the L.A. (Local Authority).

Holidays in term time are not granted except in very exceptional circumstances.  A leave of absence form should be completed (available from the office) if you are taking your child out of school in term time.

We are at present compiling our Diary of events for the forthcoming term.  We shall let you know these as soon as they are all confirmed.

Many thanks for your support.

Yours sincerely
