Dear Head Teacher,

We are delighted to update you on the progress of the Nasal Flu Pilot programme. All parents should now have had an invitation letter to their home address listing the website and showing the 115 venues where the vaccines can be obtained.

It is still very early days but over 2000 vaccine have been given in the past week or so and we are hoping this will increase rapidly from now on.

We would be extremely grateful if you feel able to add reminder information about the vaccine programme and promote the website www.cumbria.gov.uk/fluvaccine when you are communicating with parents. It would be especially helpful if you could add this to any information that is going out before half term which would be an ideal opportunity for parents to access the vaccination should they wish to.

We are aware that some of you have been approached directly by participating GPs and pharmacies and although we are keen to promote local services, we would prefer it if any correspondence sent out included the web link as above to ensure parents can make an informed choice where to obtain the vaccination for their child.

Once again many thanks for your support of this programme and let’s hope that it helps to reduce sickness and absenteeism during the winter.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions,

Jane Morphet
